Baltimore Museum of Art Acquires Work by Nengi Omuku

Pippy Houldsworth Gallery is thrilled to announce that Nengi Omuku's Reclining Figures (2022) has been acquired by the Baltimore Museum of Art, Maryland.

Rendered in oil paint on sanyan, Omuku depicts two figures intertwined, their forms reminiscent of ancient Greek sculpture, set against a backdrop derived from the artist's own studio setting. The painting was part of Omuku's solo exhibition, Parables of Joy, held at the gallery last year.

The gallery would like to extend thanks to the curators at the BMA for making this possible, the work will be on view later this year as part of the recent acquisitions' exhibition.

A catalogue of the exhibition, including an interview with Omuku by Charlotte Jansen, is available to purchase at the gallery or via our website.
