Dior’s annual crop of genre-bending artist-designed Lady Dior handbags is perhaps art and fashion’s most iconic crossover. This year, the legendary project turns ten. To commemorate the occasion, Dior has corralled exactly ten artists to take on the timeless accessory. What’s more, the French fashion house has assembled a stunning Rizzoli monograph, Dior Lady Art: The Lady Dior Reinvented by 99 Artists, encompassing every bag that the project’s collaborators have produced over the past decade. They’re also launching a special season of the Dior Talks podcast dedicated to Dior Lady Art #10.
2025 marks 30 years of the Lady Dior bag, born in 1995 and named for none other than Princess Diana. Of all Dior’s iconic purses—from the Saddle Bag to the Diorever—the architectural Lady Dior presents a particularly alluring canvas of vast, uninterrupted surfaces. Indeed, Christian Dior himself initially operated an art gallery from 1928 to 1931, showing avant-garde artists like Max Ernst and Man Ray before he ever entered fashion.
A collaboration like this is ultimately a two way street. Time and again, the Dior Lady Art project has introduced artists to latent potentials in their own practices. “I discovered textures, fabrics, and techniques I never imagined were possible,” said French-Brazilian painter Sophia Loeb.
