The Albertina Museum, Vienna, acquires work by Sophia Loeb

We are delighted to announce the acquisition of Sophia Loeb’s painting Eu desejo o seu beijo (2025) by The Albertina Museum, Vienna. This marks the artist’s first institutional collection in Europe.

Loeb’s painting materialises sensation, fusing the artist’s own tactile and visual memories of the natural world into a single, suspended moment. In Eu desejo o seu beijo (2025), she draws us into a dreamlike terrain where depth and surface coalesce. Using unconventional tools and rotating the canvas throughout her process, Loeb’s application of paint is rooted in subconscious thought, with colour becoming a vibrational, rhythmic force.

In June 2026, Loeb will present her second solo exhibition with Pippy Houldsworth Gallery, London. Other recent solo exhibitions include Panta Rei sobre a Estrata, Fortes D’Aloia & Gabriel, Rio de Janeiro (2025), and Todos os Seres são de Todos os Seres (All Beings are of All Beings), Pippy Houldsworth Gallery, London (2023). Recent group exhibitions include Pace, Los Angeles (2025-2026); X Museum, Beijing, travelled from Le Consortium, Dijon, France (2024-2025); Museu Inimá de Paula, Belo Horizonte (2025); and ABERTO, Paris (2025).
