Pippy Houldsworth Gallery is delighted to announce that Liorah Tchiprout's The well is poisoned, yet still you drink (Holloway Gothic I), 2025, has been acquired at Frieze London 2025 by the Arts Council Collection, made possible by the Arts Council Collection Frieze Fund. Launched at Frieze London in 2023, the Fund presents a remarkable opportunity for selected artists' work to join one of the most widely circulated national collections of modern and contemporary British art.
Tchiprout’s paintings are both fantastical and intimate, informed by Yiddish literature and the artist’s Jewish identity. Each of her compositions is derived from a tableaux of self-made dolls, animated from modelling clay, handmade clothing, and human or animal hair. These figurines are based on herself, her closest friends, and fictional characters of literature and her own imagining, complicating the relationship between reality and fantasy.
Work by Liorah Tchiprout will be on view throughout the week at Frieze London with Pippy Houldsworth Gallery, Booth A21.
