Angela Heisch

Pippy Houldsworth Gallery now represents Angela Heisch

Pippy Houldsworth Gallery is delighted to announce representation of Angela Heisch.

Angela Heisch’s paintings engage playfully with the viewer, presenting spaces that vibrate with psychological activity. The artist employs an abstract language of voluptuous shapes and delicate lines, familiar through association and rendered with a luminous application of paint. With undulating curves, repeated motifs and gradients of colour, each work unfolds with fluid movement. Heisch invites a closer look, disrupting the perceived balance of each composition through subtle modifications that complicate an understanding of recognisable properties and forms.

Heisch (b. 1989, Auckland, New Zealand) received a BA Fine Arts from University at Potsdam, SUNY, Potsdam, NY, in 2011 and an MFA from University at Albany, SUNY, Albany, NY, in 2014. Recent solo exhibitions include Davidson Gallery, New York (2020, 2019); Projet Pangée, Montréal (2020); Gallery 106 Green, New York (2018); One River School, Allendale (2017) and No Place Gallery, Columbus (2016). Her work has been featured in publications including Artforum, Art In America, The Brooklyn Rail, and ArtNews. Heisch lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. The artist’s work will be included in Pippy Houldsworth Gallery’s upcoming presentation at Art Basel Miami Beach 2020 Online Viewing Rooms, running 2-6 December.

Angela Heisch's first UK solo exhibition will be at Pippy Houldsworth Gallery in 2021.
