Dindga McCannon is awarded the 2023 'Anonymous Was A Woman' grant

We are delighted to announce that Dindga McCannon has been awarded the 2023 'Anonymous Was A Woman' grant!

Established in 1996 by artist Susan Unterberg, the award is given to female artists over the age of 40 in recognition of their accomplishments, artistic growth, originality, and potential. To date, over 600 notable women have participated as nominators and panelists, and the Award has been given to 280 artists.

In an interview with ARTnews, McCannon said that the prize will enable her to set up a studio in New York to continue work on her "Blues Queens" project, honoring female musicians, help support the careers of two younger artists, trips to India and Ghana next year, and "buy all the art supplies that I can imagine I need".
