National Portrait Gallery London acquires work by Zoë Buckman

The embroidered textile piece was included in Buckman's solo exhibition at Pippy Houldsworth Gallery in 2022

Pippy Houldsworth Gallery is delighted to announce the acquisition of Zoë Buckman's why don’t you just tell me how you want to be, baby & i’ll live like water around you, 2022, by the National Portrait Gallery, London. This comes as the museum reopens to the public after three years of extensive redevelopment. Included in Buckman's solo exhibition at Pippy Houldsworth Gallery in 2022, the hand-embroidered work portraying the actor Cush Jumbo references the artist's first film, Show Me Your Bruises, Then (2021-2022).

 

Buckman has recently been included in exhibitions at Parrish Art Museum, NY; Museum of Arts and Design, NY; Baltimore Museum of Art, MD; and Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art, VA. Opening in August 2023, she will be part of the exhibition, Resistance Training: Arts, Sports, and Civil Rights, at the Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum, MSU, MI.
