Phumelele Tshabalala (b. 1987) is a South African artist who lives and works in Los Angeles, CA. His multimedia practice focuses on the human figure, examining the body as a site of expression and resistance. Tshabalala's work constructs new spaces where reality and possibility converge. Reassessing historical, cultural and social narratives, the artist centres those that touch on identity, race and social injustice.
